Sperm DNA Biomarker for Autism Susceptibility

With the results of this study, future parents can better understand their potential of having a child with Autism and drive earlier developmental assessments and diagnosis

Study objective: to verify the biomarker discovered in the previous proof of concept study.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Fathers with offspring with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • The child’s ASD diagnosis is from a clincal comprehensive diagnostic evaluation
  • Upon enrollment, each study participant will receive a kit containing instructions and a device for at-home semen collection. Kits will also include a prepaid shipping label and return shipping material
  • All participants must be 18 years of age or older and will be compensated

Your specific test results are confidential and shared only with you, however you may wish to review the results with your doctor. Your anonymized results may be analyzed to help further the cause of autism research.

    Proof of concept data in peer-reviewed publication

    Sperm samples were obtained from fathers that have children with or without autism, and the sperm then assessed for alterations in DNA methylation. The potential sperm biomarker was validated with blinded test sets of individuals with an approximately 90% accuracy.
